Earlier this year, I heard on the radio that George Strait would be coming to the USANA Amphitheatre. I was pretty stoked about it and decided I'd like to try and get tickets. However, I didn't know who I should go with until one day when I mentioned it to my friend Meggan. She's a big George Strait fan so we decided we should go for it. I got the tickets and the countdown began.
In the meantime, Michelle and I got together and we created our lists of 7 things. Of course I listed a George Strait concert. I guess putting something on the list that was a definite was kind of cheating, but it is my list and we didn't lay down any specific rules. So there! ;o)
July finally rolled around and Megg and I found ourselves on the way to Salt Lake for the concert. Needless to say, we were pretty stoked. We ate at the Spaghetti Factory in Trolley Square and then headed out to West Valley. Neither of us had been to the Amphitheatre before and quickly decided that it had to be located in the mountains since that's where the road was taking us. We ended up pretty close to the mountains but not quite in them. Anyway, our tickets were general admission lawn seats. They turned out not to be too bad and we began our wait for George. We sat through Julianne Hough (ick), Blake Shelton (not too bad), and then finally George came out. He sang for almost 2 hours and it was AWESOME!!! We sang along and had the time of our lives. It was so fun!!! It was definitely worth the long drive and wait in the scorching heat. Megg got to hear "I Can Still Make Cheyenne" and I loved "Amarillo By Morning" and "How 'bout Them Cowgirls". I was disappointed that he didn't sing "I Cross My Heart" but with over 50 number one hits, whats a person to do but make a few sacrifices? It's ok though, we still love you George. After a sweet encore, he left us and we made the long trek back home. It took us probably 2 more hours to even get away from the Amphitheater. That was probably the most rediculous part of the night. Well that, and the hordes of white trash drunk people. I guess that's what you get at a concert like that. We made it home in one piece and I am so glad I got to do it. I don't know if I'll ever do it again, I don't enjoy watching white trash drink themselves silly, but this was definitely a NIGHT TO REMEMBER!!! Thanks Meggan for being there to share it!
